Matamata Piako District Council
For the training scheme to be effective, we understood that the material had to be easy to assimilate, accessible and engaging. Our team developed the training programme framework in conjunction with MPDC’s requirements and international best practice.
We came up with an online training platform, making the material accessible to operators via laptops, tablets and smartphones. The material includes onsite videos involving our engineers and experienced operators, plant-specific procedures, key water treatment principles and interactive tests. Assessors are able to track the progress of course participants, and real-time results provide feedback on performance. After completing the course, the material remains available for operators to access at any time, allowing them to grow in confidence in the effective operation of water treatment assets.
Training System Development, Operator Training
MPDC determined that the training received by operators was not optimal, increasing the risk of producing non-compliant water and breaching environmental consents. The council identified the need for a structured training programme that would qualify operators for running nominated plants.
MPDC engaged Lutra for a solution that would ensure the professional development of all plant operators. The scheme covers three different water treatment plants.
